TRUSCAN, a hand held device used to detect counterfeit medicines was deployed nationally in January, 2010. It has the capability of detecting fake products within a couple of minutes.
This makes NAFDAC the first regulatory agency in the world to deploy TRUSCAN in this manner and will go a long way to further checkmate the influx of fake regulated products into the country.
