USFDA issued a warning against the consumption of products

The United States Food and Drugs Administration (USFDA), recently issued a warning against the consumption of products containing peanut butter following an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium ailment, which killed 6 people and caused various illnesses to about 453 others in the US and Canada. Salmonella Typhimurium causes infection known as Solmomellosis which induces diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after ingestion. In addition, the infection sometimes spreads from the intestines to the blood stream and then to other organs, leading to death. Adults, infants and those with impaired immune system are prone to more severe symptoms and ailments arising from the infection.NAFDAC therefore warns the general public against consumption of products containing peanut butter and report any company or persons in possession of the offensive product to the nearest NAFDAC office for appropriate action.
