Public Alert notice on advertisements

The attention of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been drawn to illegal, unsubstantiated, misleading advertisements and promotions of unregistered NAFDAC regulated products. This is in total disregard to the extant Laws including the provisions of Food and Drug Act CAP F32 LFN 2004, Food, Drugs and Related Products (Reg. etc) Act CAP F33 LFN 2004, Marketing (Breast Milk Substitute) Act Cap M5.

Particularly worrisome is the unbridled, notorious and misleading claims on herbal preparations and medicines as well as the advertisement of unregistered food supplements, nutriceuticals and aphrodisiacs.

NAFDAC in its bid to safeguard the health of the Nation considers this reckless and dangerous conduct unacceptable and is collaborating with other relevant authorities to zealously prosecute offenders.

Henceforth, no unregistered NAFDAC regulated products shall be advertised or promoted in the country. NAFDAC hereby warns all manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers of the affected products to register and obtain appropriate permits before advertisement as violators would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
