Public Alert No: 0013/2018 – Authorities Ban Six (6) Herbal Drugs

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been informed that the Food and Drug Authority of Ghana on 21st May, 2018 in Accra, Ghana banned six (6) herbal Drugs because they are mixed with sildenafil.

Sildenafil is a synthetic pharmaceutical ingredient used in the formulation of prescription only- medicine (POM), used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The herbal products also contain active ingredients for sexual enhancement that are not supposed to be in herbal products.

The Banned Herbal Products include:

  1. X plus Men Power Bitter Syrup
  2. Laud P Capsules
  3. Vigoupa Capsules
  4. Time Natural Capsules
  5. Osompa Narural Capsules
  6. Anidaso Goodma Capsules

Members of the public, distributors and Retailer in possession of these products are advised to immediately stop their use and sale. Healthcare providers in possession of the products should submit them to the nearest NAFDAC office for appropriate Action.

Adverse event following the use of these products should be reported to NAFDAC via PRASCOR(20543 TOLL FREE from all networks) or via pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng.
