Meet the Director Ports Inspection Directorate (PID)

Prof. Samson Adebayo is the current Director of Ports Inspection Directorate at NAFDAC. He obtained a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) & M.Sc. at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria; and a Ph.D. (at the University of Munich, Germany) degrees in Statistics with specialization in Biostatistics/Applied Statistics.
He has successfully anchored the conduct of national surveys on HIV & AIDS, Malaria, Family Planning, Maternal and Child Health and other Sexual Reproductive health. He has also consulted for UNICEF, WHO and other international organisations. Samson has carried out series of evaluation of projects and interventions on HIV/AIDS, Maternal and Child Health, Childhood Feeding Practices and Sexual Reproductive Health.
He has published 98 scientific articles on HIV & AIDS, Family Planning, Malaria, Maternal and Child Health (including Malnutrition and Breastfeeding), etc. in reputable international journals and conference proceedings. Samson was an academic scholar of the University of Ilorin and a German scholar. His current research interest includes innovative statistical data analysis to inform Smart and Evidence-Based Regulatory Decision Making (SEBRDM) in Food and Drug Regulatory activities, operation research on fighting Spurious, Sub-standard, Falsely Labelled, Falsified and Counterfeit medicines (SSFFC), Mathematical Modelling of HIV/AIDS situation and other reproductive health studies in Nigeria.
He currently collaborates with academia/researchers in Nigeria, Ghana and Germany. He has examined Masters and Ph.D. theses in Nigeria, Ghana, Australia, South Africa and Germany. Samson has wealth of practical experience in monitoring and evaluation of HIV & AIDS prevention activities, Malaria research, Child Nutrition, Family Planning and Reproductive Health interventions in Nigeria and other sub-Saharan African countries.
