NAFDAC Celebrates The Maiden Edition Of World Food Safety Day

On Friday 7th of June 2019, NAFDAC will join the rest of the world in global celebrations of the first-ever World Food Safety Day. In December 2018 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming 7th June annually as World Food Safety Day. We recognize this global celebration of World Food Safety Day as an added opportunity to highlight food safety as a very significant issue of public health concern especially in the light of the rising incidence of avoidable foodborne illnesses caused by unwholesome and contaminated food and water.

As part of the activities lined up to celebrate the event, NAFDAC, in collaboration with our stakeholders in the food and beverages sector, will host a symposium where eminent speakers with expertise in food safety will deliver presentations around the theme of this year’s World Food Safety Day “Food Safety, everyone’s business”.
